Hotels and Resorts on Cape Cod
Cape Cod has been our home for many years, before leaving the US, and while yes—it gets crowded in July and August—its beaches, small towns, and family-friendly pace make it a special place to return to again and again.
From long beach days in Chatham and Wellfleet to biking the Cape Cod Rail Trail or exploring tide pools with little ones, there’s always something outdoors to keep kids busy. Provincetown adds its own magic—colorful, artsy, and proudly queer, it’s one of the few places where LGBT+ families like ours can truly exhale and just be ourselves. Ice cream walks down Commercial Street, whale-watching tours, and evenings watching the sunset over Herring Cove are some of our favorite memories.
What sets the Cape apart is how it balances tradition with welcome. Generations of families return each summer, yet there’s room for newcomers to feel at home, too. For us, the mix of multi-generational family time and Provincetown’s affirming, inclusive spirit makes Cape Cod more than just a vacation spot—it feels like part of our family’s story.

Harbor Hotel - Situated along the waterfront in Provincetown’s East End, the Harbor Hotel is just ~3 miles from Provincetown Municipal Airport and close to beaches and bay views. Getting there can be tricky but well worth it - take the ferry from Boston, drive over the Cape Cod bridges (and travel about another 1.5 hours), or fly in! Standout features include retro-chic rooms with harbor views, a beachfront setting, and a seasonal outdoor splash pad for kids!
Awol - Located steps from Commercial Street and just a short walk from local beaches, AWOL is located at the very end of Cape Cod! Arrive by car, ferry, or plane and then easily take pedicabs or walk around Provincetown. Beautiful elements include a laid-back, design-forward boutique feel with 30 rooms, pet-friendly options, an outdoor pool, free bike rentals, and an emphasis on authentic, comfortable style.
Chatham Bars Inn - Chatham Bars Inn is on the eastern side of Cape Cod, in Chatham village. It’s not extremely close to a major airport, but accessible via Boston or Providence airports and then by car or transfer service. The Inn offers a complimentary Lexus shuttle service within a 5-mile radius, which is handy for local errands or dining. A stay here includes oceanfront luxury, immaculate grounds, boating and water activities, on-site spa, golf, and a storied reputation among Cape hotels.
Ocean Edge - Located in Brewster on Cape Cod, this family-friendly resort offers access to beaches, trails, and quiet coastal corners. It’s about a 45-minute drive from the Sagamore or Bourne Bridges, and the town of Brewster is very quaint once you arrive. You'll find resort-scale amenities, multiple lodging options (villas, mansions, etc.), direct access to golf, pools, beach clubs, and extensive grounds crafted for family and leisure experiences.
