Hotels and Resorts in Mérida, Mexico
Mérida has been our home for the past 8+ months, and while yes—it’s hot (everyone will tell you that!)—it’s also beautiful, vibrant, and incredibly family-focused.
From Sunday Biciruta on Paseo Montejo to kid-friendly parks like La Plancha, Parque de las Américas, and Parque Alemán, there’s always something for little ones to do. Even malls and restaurants often have play areas or supervised spaces so parents can actually relax—a game-changer for traveling families.
What really sets Mérida apart, though, is the emphasis on family and community. Weekends are filled with multi-generational outings, grandparents chasing after kids, and parents proudly spending time together. For us, as a queer, multicultural family, the warmth and inclusiveness here have made Mérida feel like home.

Hacienda Xcanatun - Nestled just outside the heart of Mérida (about a 12–15 minute drive to Centro), this restored 18th-century hacienda blends historic charm with luxury amenities. Surrounded by lush gardens, it offers a serene “urban resort” experience, complete with a signature restaurant (Casa de Piedra), spa, and pool. Transfers from Mérida’s airport take around 18 minutes by taxi, and private transport is available.
Cigno Hotel (Adults Only) - Tucked into Mérida’s historic center, CIGNO Hotel is within walking distance of Parque Grande and cathedral zones — about a 10–15 minute stroll from many central attractions. From Mérida International Airport it’s approximately 13 minutes by car. Formerly a 19th-century mansion, it retains original architectural details (high ceilings, courtyard design) while offering modern comforts, a rooftop terrace, and intimate design touches
Camino Real Mérida - Camino Real Mérida is located just outside the immediate Centro zone, near Paseo de Montejo and Plaza Altabrisa, offering easier access to both commercial and cultural districts. Transport is straightforward by car or taxi, and guests benefit from onsite amenities like restaurants, rooftop pool, and shopping. It’s a comfortable middle ground — neither deep in the historic core nor far in the suburbs.
Rosas & Xocolate - Situated right on Paseo de Montejo in Mérida’s Centro zone, Rosas & Xocolate is just steps from plazas, museums, and the colonial heart of the city. It offers a tranquil boutique experience: two French-style mansions, rooms with private jacuzzis, an award-winning restaurant, rooftop terrace, spa, and lush garden retreats. Its central location ensures easy access by taxi, walking, or local transport to all of Mérida’s major sights.
